The Chicago Irish Film Festival returns for its 16th year, February 28 –
March 7, 2015 with three very different feature films.
POISON PEN, will have its Midwest premier on Saturday, February 28th at the Music Box Theater. The film co-stars Lochlainn O’Mearain as a celebrated author that’s blackmailed into writing for a weekly gossip magazine with Aoibhinn McGinnity as his new boss. The comedy is the first screenplay written by international best seller Eoin Colfer, author of the Artemis Fowl series and was directed by Lorna Fitzsimmons, Jennifer Shortall and Steven Benedict through Filmbase…..watch trailer

Patrick Ryan’s DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN about a troubled teenage sharpshooter who avenges her estranged sister’s death after she is found murdered in a public bathroom. Tom Collin’s AN BRONNTANAS is a contemporary thriller that revolves around a failing family fish business, a million euros worth of weed and a recent immigrant from Poland. A slick, fast-paced and gripping slice of Connemara noir the film has everything an audience could want: murder, mystery, betrayal, corruption, guns, drugs, double-crosses, plenty of local Irish flavor and, of course, subtitles: its in Gaeilge, English and Polish.
